About the Item

This elegant antique chandelier was crafted in France circa 1890 in the Louis XV style. Forged from hand-wrought iron, the six-light fixture features a verdigris painted finish richly contrasted with scrolling gilt acanthus leaves and foliate embellishments. The central stem is decorated with a round finial and Fleur-de-Lis flourishes, while the arms extend in graceful scrolls terminating in candle-form sockets. Further adorned with delicate glass rosettes around the basket-form body, the chandelier gains a subtle sparkle that enhances the depth of the verdigris patina. Newly wired to US standards, the six perimeter lights are fitted with candle-style sleeves, making it fully functional for contemporary use while retaining its Old World charm. Measuring 34 inches in diameter and 36 inches in height, this striking piece is the ideal size to suspend above a dining table, in a breakfast room, entryway, or even a bedroom. The chandelier is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a warm, aged patina that underscores its antique character. Included: a canopy, loop and chain, each color-matched to the fixture.
