20th Century Swedish Brass Markaryd Chandelier, Pendant by Hans-Agne Jakobsson
About the Item
A round, vintage Mid-Century Modern Swedish three-arm chandelier, pendant made of hand crafted polished brass, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by AB Markaryd in good condition. The small Scandinavian ceiling light, lamp is composed with three smoked plastic shades, each of them is featuring a one light socket. The wires have been renewed. Minor scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Sweden, Scandinavia.

Shade: 4.5" H x 6.5" diameter
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a Swedish designer born in 1919 Havdhem, Gotland, Sweden and passed away in 2009. Jakobsson finished his apprenticeship as a carpenter and after he went to Gothenburg, Sweden to study architecture. When Jakobsson finished his studies, he started working as an Industrial designer for General Motors. Later on, he began working as an assistant for the Swedish designer Carl Malmsten and Werner West. In 1951, Jakobsson founded Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden. Like Poul Henningsen, the Danish designer, Jakobsson is best known for his dimmed, soft lighting.
AB Markaryd was a Swedish lighting manufacturer. The company's history remains lost in history.
