Barovier Murano Glass and Brass Flower Chandelier, Italy, 1940s

About the Item

Marvelous floral chandelier entirely crafted from mouth-blown Murano glass and solid brass. This incredibly elegant and sculptural piece was produced by the mastery of Barovier in Italy during the late 1940s. Fully original and in beautiful condition, with no chips or cracks. The chandelier features a graceful floral composition with a stunning bellflower-shaped central shade in clear bullicante Murano glass, enriched by countless tiny air bubbles trapped within the glass. The shade is surrounded by beautifully curved arms in twisted blown Murano glass, connected by elegant brass details. A long twisted glass stem and a matching flower-shaped Murano glass canopy complete the composition. When illuminated, the effect is simply breathtaking. The light beautifully interacts with the tiny air bubbles inside the central shade, enhancing the texture and depth of the glass and creating a wonderfully warm and sparkling glow. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and tested and is compatible with both US and EU/UK standards. It uses a single E26/E27 light bulb. A truly refined example of early Murano lighting, combining exceptional glassmaking, delicate floral forms and beautifully balanced proportions.
