The pendant light is a beautiful example of mid-century modern design, produced in the 1960s by the renowned Italian glassmaking company Seguso Vetri D'arte and designed by the celebrated lighting designer Gino Sarfatti. This light is made of glass, brass, and metal and the use of bubbled glass, a material that was rarely seen in lighting design at the time, adds a unique and striking visual element to the piece creating a stunning visual effect when illuminated. The piece is in overall good vintage condition with no signs of defects on its glass and some scratches and loss of paint on the metal frame. The company is known for its high-quality, hand-blown glassware and has been recognized for its exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The company continues to produce beautiful glass objects to this day, making it a true icon of the Italian glassmaking industry. Gino Sarfatti was an Italian lighting designer and architect who was born in 1912. He is known for his contributions to the field of modern lighting design, and his work has been exhibited in museums around the world. Sarfatti began his career as an industrial designer in the 1930s and later founded the lighting company Arteluce in 1939. He was known for his innovative approach to lighting design and was one of the first designers to incorporate new technologies like fluorescent and halogen bulbs into his work. Sarfatti's designs are often characterized by their clean lines and functional forms, and many of his pieces are still in production and/or considered classics of modern design.
