Cord Pendant White

About the Item

The Cord Family is a celebration of form driven by physics. The series began as an exercise to simplify Jean Prouvé’s classic Potence lamp by using the fixture's electrical cord in place of the guy wire. The result is a pleasing symmetry between the structural members. The family utilizes the principle of tensegrity, or floating compression, where the compression of the steel arm resists the tension of the cloth electrical cord to hold the custom ceramic socket aloft. A dynamic yet refined fixture, the Cord Pendant’s minimal armature adds a touch of class to any space. A custom milled brass triangle connects the three steel arms of the Cord Pendant while radiating cloth covered electrical cords complete the tensegrity structure, holding the arms and cast ceramic sockets aloft. Black & brass, black, white & brass, and white (Shown) finishes available. This fixture comes standard with an 8' flexible drop.

  • Church 4 Arm Pendant White & Stainless by Ravenhill Studio
    By Brendan Ravenhill
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
The Church Family was first created to illuminate California Modernist Rudolph Schindler's Bethlehem Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Schindler called his work “Space Architecture,” meaning he designed not just for structure but also the climate, light and mood of an interior space. Inspired by this thinking our Church fixtures are designed to cast light not down but up and out, with globe bulbs exposed and celebrated. Suspended by cloth-covered electrical cords, this tensegrity structure can be hung to align dramatically with existing architecture. The Church four-arm pendant is anchored by an octagonal center block, which connects the angled steel arms to create a plus-sign silhouette from below. Black, Black & Brass, White & Stainless (Shown), and White & Brass finishes available. This fixture comes standard with an 8' flexible drop. The Church Family also includes a 2 Arm Pendant...

  • Hood Pendant in White Oak by Ravenhill Studio
    By Brendan Ravenhill
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
The Hood Family is inspired by wooden sailboats and the work of Aino Aalto. Thin sheets of polyethylene are die cut and bent, joining narrow spines of white oak to create the hooded shade. The complex joinery of the Pendant and Chandelier results in lightweight frames that hold the glowing, sail-like shades aloft. Brass hardware completes the three part material palette. The Hood Pendant...

  • Pivot 3 Arm Pendant White & Stainless by Ravenhill Studio
    By Brendan Ravenhill
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
In our Pivot Family fixtures, we create "an ecosystem in which all the elements are interrelated, interdependent, perfectly balanced, without trimming or un-utilized parts" - to borrow from the painter Charley Harper, whose minimal realism always inspires. The geometry of the spun aluminum shade is designed to visually extend the lines of the steel arm and the cloth cord that hold each shade aloft. The machined collar is also a complex but essential component, providing an elegant transition from each shade to the more delicate lines of its supporting arm. The dynamic Pivot 3 Arm Pendant...
