Early 20th Century French Birdcage Chandelier Ormolu with Crystal Spires
About the Item
A stunning Empire style crystal and gilt bronze chandelier of French origin, a thirteen-light pendant dating back to the very early 1900, with a very original vertical structure, a birdcage shaped frame, topped by crystal elements and adorned with crystal pinnacles. Beautiful original gilding.
Seven handmade scrolled arms ending with romantic crystal spires illuminated with mignon bayonet light bulbs inside, fully arranged with Bohemian crystal drops and leaves.
Six scrolling curved arms ending with flower shaped ormolu bobeches suitable for E14 light bulbs. Weight: 30 kg.
We have disassembled each piece for cleaning and new wiring. One arm showed an old restoration and only tree of the upper crystal leaves, daggers are different, are not original. See closed-up pictures.
In good condition ready to be hanged, rewired for Italian standards. It dates back to very early 20th century and comes from a private villa of Milan.
Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago requires a governative license for export called Belle Arti. The shipping may require additional 2/3 handling weeks to require and get the license according to the final destination of the artwork.
