Einar Backström Three-Arm Brass Pendant with Perforated Shades, Sweden, 1950s
About the Item
This very rare pendant light was produced by Einar Backström in Sweden in the 1950s. The sculptural fixture is crafted in brass and features three elegantly curved arms supporting conical shades with distinctive cross-shaped perforations along their lower edges. The design is completed by the central, single tubular shaft leading to a cone shaped ceiling canopy.
The combination of warm brass, refined detailing, and graphic perforations gives the pendant a striking yet understated Swedish Modern character.
The piece is in good, completely original condition. The brass with a naturally developed, attractive patina and minor wear consistent with age and use.
Other Scandinavian Modern designers working in the same era/style include Paavo Tynell, Hans Bergström, Harald Notini, Carl-Axel Acking and Hans-Agne Jakobsson.
