About the Item

This beautiful Italian Fortuny Scheherazade three-tier, ivory silk chandelier reflects Mariano Fortuny’s love for combining the Venetian with the Oriental. Created in Venice in 2007, its name, Scheherazade, means “prince” and reflects the atmosphere it creates: a mixture of excitement, magnificent sophistication and romance. The elegant three-tier structure has the form of an upside-down pagoda, suspended by a delicate net of cords decorated with Murano glass beads. The lower tier culminates to suspend a handsomely intricate brass finial. The special quality and lightness of the silk diffuses subtle iridescence, creating soothing silhouettes and adding depth and intrigue to the lighted space. This chandelier’s silk shade has two very small imperfections near the outer rim of the top tier. Each is about 1/8th-inch in size. They are virtually imperceptible when the lamp is hanging from the ceiling. In fact, it took a moment of searching to find them to photograph. Please see photos. The 20" H mentioned in the dimensions section below includes only the silk shades and finial hanging at the bottom. Total MAXIMUM vertical distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the finial (ceiling mount + suspension cords + shades + finial) is 46 inches. (See photo with measurement notes.) The suspension cords currently allow the top of the largest/top shade to hang at 26" from the ceiling. Distance of the shade from the ceiling CAN BE REDUCED by shortening the cords.
