This rare and exceptionally wide French Art Deco pendant chandelier was created by Henri Quenvil at his Paris workshop, located at 47 rue d’Hauteville in the 10th arrondissement, circa 1920. Spectacular yet refined, the fixture embodies the finesse, elegance, and decorative sophistication associated with the finest Parisian interiors of the early Art Deco period. The broad glass shade has a graceful architectural profile that gives the chandelier an impressive presence without appearing overly heavy. Its elegant proportions and delicately worked surface create a soft, atmospheric light, making it an ideal focal point for a dining room, entrance hall, living room, library, or sophisticated commercial interior. The shade is marked “QuenvilH Paris,” as shown in the photographs, confirming its origin. Henri Quenvil was a French decorative artist active from approximately 1917 through the 1930s. From his Paris workshop, he produced distinctive glass and porcelain objects decorated with richly applied polychrome enamels. His work may be compared with that of Robj, for whom he reportedly designed models, as well as André Delatte, Marcel Goupy, Gabriel Argy-Rousseau, and Adrien Mazoyer. Objects bearing the QuenvilH or related signatures are particularly scarce. Because the workshop emphasized elaborate decoration and a high level of craftsmanship, production appears to have remained limited. Surviving pieces are therefore highly desirable among collectors of French Art Deco glass, rare Parisian lighting, and early 20th-century decorative arts. The chandelier is delivered fully rewired for installation in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, China, Australia, and other countries.
