Large 1930s White Alabaster Plafonnier – 50 cm – Restored & Rewired

About the Item

Large 1930s White Alabaster Plafonnier – 50 cm – Restored & Rewired Exceptional early 20th century white alabaster plafonnier, likely Swedish Art Deco, c. 1920s–1930s. This is a rare white large size at 50 cm diameter. The shade is hand-carved from pure white alabaster with delicate natural veining in soft grey and black. When lit, it glows like a full moon — luminous, ethereal, and completely unique Diameter 50 cm Professionally rewired and grounded to modern standards. Retains the original brass and porcelain E27 bulb holders. Professionally cleaned and restored. The naturally occurring fissures in the alabaster grain have been stabilized with traditional metal staples a museum-level conservation technique used by craftsmen 100 years ago. The staples are visible and part of the piece’s history and authenticity. No modern adhesives or hidden repairs. Solid white alabaster with subtle, cloud-like veining. Unlit it’s a soft matte white; lit it becomes translucent with depth and movement. Large white alabaster shades this clean and intact are increasingly hard to find. The staple repairs are desirable to collectors because they show honest, period-correct restoration and prove the piece hasn’t been over-restored or altered. A serious statement light for a dining room, living room, or entryway. Ready to install. Why the staples matter For buyers who know alabaster, these staples add value. They show the piece was worth saving even 80-100 years ago, and that it’s been conserved, not cosmetically filled. You’re selling history and craft, not just a lamp.
