About the Item

Unique, stunning and all handcrafted work of antique lighting art. The amount of time that must have gone into designing and hand-forging this Moorish style light fixture is incredible. There are so many, individually forged and perfectly shaped components that it would cost an absolute fortune to have it made in this day and age. However, it is not only the quantity, it is also the quality of the perfectly repeated shapes. Add to that the different sizes that were needed to fill every corner of this lamp and you will get an idea of the time and skill that was required to create this 19th century, Arab work of lighting art. The heavy and stunning outer frame and the many dozens of thick and strong brackets that hold all the scrolled elements in place, make this pendant extremely strong and durable. Apart from one corroded hinge in the door that gives access to the lightbulb, this antique is in excellent condition and it is wired for safe and immediate usage in the U.S.A. as well. The old rope that you see is just one of the possibilities to hang this pendant, but we can obviously also provide antique black chain to connect this lantern (either to the wall bracket or straight onto your ceiling). This light fixture will look great in an Arab style interior, but in a modern design home it could look perfect too. Maximum height x diameter of the lantern without the rope: 38 x 14 inches.
