About the Item
This antique Marie Therese chandelier is from the Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn NY. This chandelier has 22 lights mounted on white plastic sleeved candlesticks and consists of numerous crystals hanging from beautifully curved arms covered in glass with attractive bobeches. The name for this style of chandelier originated from the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria who enjoyed this style of chandeliers in her palaces.
Grand Prospect Hall, also known as Prospect Hall, was a large Victorian-style banquet hall. The four-story Victorian-era building was built in 1903 as a gathering place for German and later Polish immigrants after a previous hall on the site burned down in 1900, National Historic Register documents show.
