About the Item

This exquisitely handcrafted gold-infused cristallo Murano chandelier has six undulating scroll arms with hanging scarlet-colored baubles, matching the red trim on the central bowl. Glass leaves and daffodils embellish this chandelier, blooming up and surrounding the small bulbous center column. The piece has further detailing of scroll stems, rigaree trim, and a lattice texture throughout; exhibiting a masterful flair in glass craftsmanship. The glass houses on the island of Murano are famous for highly ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant chandelier showcases a mastery of Venetian glass craftsmanship. This mid-century chandelier is a pared-down interpretation of the ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style of chandeliers created by Giuseppe Briati in the 18th century. The ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style is named for the Venetian palace, today a public museum dedicated to 18th century Venice, where Briati’s initial masterpiece resides. The body and arms of this piece are made of clear, colorless Venetian glass enhanced with 24-carat gold leaf. The subtle glints of gold concentrated on the trim, leaves, and flowers enchant the illusion of sunlight. A splendid combination of glimmering gold and scarlet red. This piece is distinguished by its opulent combination of hues, reminiscent of fine jewels. This chandelier demonstrates a delicate conversion of modern and Baroque-style design still loved by many, resulting in a glistening floral centerpiece. Rewired: Rewired to meet US electrical standards. It takes six base-size bulbs, incandescent, or LED. Each light bulb can use up to a maximum of 60 watts. This fixture requires a canopy and chain which is not included. Three feet of wire at the top can be ad. Wear consistent with age and use. Glassblown, no part is identical. No chips, or cracks in the glass. Parts are disassembled and require assembly. This fixture will require special handling and shipping by an experienced white glove service.
