Mid Century Murano Chandelier with Green Pomegranates

About the Item

This handcrafted mid-century gold-infused chartreuse green and white Murano chandelier features five white scroll arms with spherical green cups resembling the shape of pomegranates, complete with a crown-like trim. Upright glass fronds emerge from the bulbous center column, all made of gold-infused colorless glass. The main bowl is made with a layer of white milk glass and gold-infused glass. The shade and cups are created using the “Bullicante” technique, which in Italian means “full of bubbles” resulting in the controlled bubbles along the curving glass surfaces. This piece is a unique find, distinguished by its unique color palette and combination of Murano glass techniques. Murano’s glass studios are renowned for their highly ornamented glass chandeliers, crafted from pincered and molded blown glass. This piece is made from glass enhanced with 24-carat gold leaf flecks. Subtle glints of gold dispersed throughout the glass create a sunbeam-like effect when the chandelier is lit. This piece also features ‘bullicante’ and ‘rigaree’ glass techniques. Bullicante is characterized by captivating bubble patterns embedded within the glass, evoking the charm of gently effervescent water. Rigaree is a decorative process that creates texture and a desired raised pattern, as seen in the frond embellishments and trim. This chandelier, with its delicate mid-century design, serves as a shimmering centerpiece that enhances any interior with its natural beauty.     Rewired: Rewired to US electrical standards, it takes 5 candelabra-size, incandescent or LED lights. Three feet of wire at the top can be adjusted to the preferred length. This fixture requires a canopy and chain which is not included. Wear consistent with age and use. Glassblown and molded by hand, no part is identical. All 5 spears are different and they all have small flea-bite chips on the tip. To ship, it is disassembled.
