  • Carlo Nason Italy Murano White, Pink Chandelier, Pendant, Lamp
    By Carlo Nason
    Located in Valladolid, ES
Amazing and Fantastic large chandelier-type lamp designed by Carlo Nason for the Venetian house Mazzega. It has a metal structure from which an infinity of white Murano glass discs hang with a salmon-colored circle, 26 cm in diameter. The Mazzega house was founded in the 40s as an artisan glass factory, evolving to become a benchmark in design and avant-garde. About Carlo Nason Italian designer Carlo Nason was born into a family of expert glassmakers in 1935 in Murano, Venice. His father, Vincenzo Nason, ran the renowned Nason Moretti glass company and opened a second glass company under the name Vincenzo Nason & C in 1941. From an early age, the young Nason was trained in the art of glassblowing, learning both the properties of the material and the craft techniques used in the molding and decoration of the glass. Nason's first designed objects date from 1959 and are included in a collection of mold-blown vases produced by V Nason & C. Today, they are in the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. Driven by his passion for design, especially clean geometric shapes, Nason decided in the 1960s to distance himself from his family's business, which specialized primarily in highly traditional ornate decorative objects. Nason redirected his focus to glass lighting design in a modernist language. Nason intended to produce his first individual designs in small batches himself, but soon his spirit of experimentation and innovation caught the eye of Murano glass lighting manufacturer A.V. Mazzega, and the company invited Nason to collaborate on new collections. The partnership lasted from 1965 through the 1980s and resulted in a variety of iconic lighting designs that remain in demand today. Parallel to the collaboration with A. V. Mazzega, Nason also...

  • Venini Midcentury "Tessuto" White and Crystal Murano Glass Chandelier, 1970s
    By Venini
    Located in Roma, IT
Stunning Mid Century White and Crystal "Tessuto" Murano Glass Chandelier. This beautiful object was produced in Italy in the 70s by Venini. Woven Glass created by Carlo Scarpa for Venini in the 1930s; similar to filigree but obtained using very thin reeds joined with alternating colors and flattened to form strips similar to fabric ribbons, joined and manipulated to obtain the desired design. This is an exceptionally beautiful chandelier due to the state of the piece, the size of the light but above all the subtlety of the Tessuto Murano Glass. A stunning piece of lighting with infinite elegance that will complement an art deco or mid-century living room or entryway perfectly. The Chandelier uses a single E26/27 light bulb. Scarpa was born in Venice. Much of his early childhood was spent in Vicenza, where his family moved when he was 2 years old. After his mother's death at the age of 13, he moved with his father and brother to Venice. Carlo attended the Academy of Fine Arts where he concentrated on architectural studies. Graduated from the Academy of Venice, with the title of Professor of Architecture, he was apprenticed to the architect Francesco Rinaldo. Scarpa married Rinaldo's niece, Nini Lazzari (Onorina Lazzari). However, Scarpa refused to take the pro forma...
