Modernist Eight Tier Amethyst Handblown Murano Chandelier with Chrome Fittings
About the Item
This stunning modernist chandelier was realized in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production. It features a conical body composed of an abundance of handblown Murano circular shades with opaque centers and translucent surrounds in a rich amethyst hue. The chandelier attaches to the ceiling via a lustrous chrome chain and a conical canopy that formally reiterates the curvilinear forms expressed elsewhere in the chandelier. With its beautiful glass quality- created in the same atelier, using the same time honored craft techniques that have created these stunning shades since the 1950s- and clean modernist lines, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. Its vibrant, yet subtle color is versatile, blending with a wide variety of palettes and offering a nice "pop" of color and verve to virtually any interior setting. The fixture has been newly rewired to American settings and is in excellent
condition.The height can be adjusted to suit. The fixture accommodates ten Edison based bulbs offering up to 1000 watts of light.
