Pair of 18th Century Italian Rococo Gold Leaf Hand Carved 'Pompom' Tassels

About the Item

Pair of 18th century Italian hand carved gold leaf 'pompom' tassels. The tassels 'pompoms' originally came from an Italian church in Tuscany and were used to decorate ecclesiastical lighting features and other objects of worship. These are incredibly rare to come by and can't be found anywhere else. There are 7 matching tassels hanging from the carved wood hanging fixture which signifies the number of completion. The historically significant and rare pair of gold leaf 'pompom' tassels can be used for many different design purposes. They can adorn and drip from large ornate chandeliers or can be a statement piece in their own right.
