Pair of 1960s Vistosi Torcello Glass Disk Chandeliers by Gino Vistosi
About the Item
A stunning pair of 1960s glass disk chandeliers made in Murano, Italy. Designed by well known Italian designer Gino Vistosi for his lighting company Vistosi. Each chandelier features hand formed oval disk chains that hang over an oval textured glass bubble. The disks are a mix of champagne and light smokey topaz brown in color. Each chandelier body measures 9.5 inches in diameter and 18 inches tall. As shown, from top of ceiling canopy to the bottom of the glass chains is 27.5 inches. The interior houses three candelabra sockets on the top and a single standard socket in the bottom bubble shade. Complete with original ceiling canopies. This design is called Torcello (one of the first islands to be inhabited by people and the mythic birthplace of Venice). It was produced from 1960 to 1969s in sconces and various versions of chandeliers. A large chandelier version was published in Domas Magazine, no. 440 in July 1966 on page 105 and in the book I Vetri di Murano, Milano, Bastetti, 1967. pp205 and 228 by Giovanni Mariacher.
