About the Item

Very large and elegant midcentury chandelier. For large a large hall, ballroom or public spaces. Would be stunning in a large midcentury living room or an eclectic home. The size requires a large room. This triedri chandelier carries a classic combination of clear, amber and amethyst. First for not shading the light too much, second to warm the output and third to give a nice light purple contrast color to the other two. There are 346 glass elements that are connected together to completely diffuse the light and cover the hardware. Uses 12 bulbs standard. Can be rewired to meet customer's country requirements. Identifications, references: Unknown origin. The situation on the poliedri and Carlo Scarpa is a bit complex. It's commonly described as 1958 or 1961 design from Carlo Scarpa for Venini. The discussion among experts is that Carlo Scarpa left Venini in 1947. After that date, he worked with Venini on projects as independent architect, as a customer and not as a designer. The use of multiple single elements (poliedri, tirdri and many others) is considered a Ludovico de Santillana concept or late Paolo Venini. In 1961 Italy celebrated in Turin 100 years as Turin was the first capital of Italy. Here Carlo Scarpa made an immense installation (caminetto) for the Veneto Pavillion using Venini's Poliedri. Here the association Carlo Scarpa, Poliedri and Venini was set. Actually Paolo Venini in 1958 made a poliedri installation at the Brusselles show. In the same years the foyer of the Comunale of my town. Poliedri were made by many companies in different shapes and with the same use. All said there is such a market association of the name that I am leaving a fair design attribution to Carlo Scarpa and in the style of Venini in order to facilitate the customer's research of this chandelier. Special note, please pay attention to size and number of elements. This is very large. Evaluation assessment: By complexity of manufacturing and quality of both hardware and glass. The color combination and white hardware indicates Murano making and pre-1980s. Mainland glass companies are more industrial and don't have the variability in color than a Murano company. In general white hardware was produced up until the 1980s, after that time hardware was mostly if not all made in chrome.
