About the Item

Rare Art Deco alabaster three light chandelier with rose and leaf relief and unique gilt bronze suspension point decorations.
An extraordinary and rare lighting fixture from the Art Deco period, this hand-carved alabaster pendant lamp is a harmonious blend of natural material and artistic detail. The circular alabaster bowl, carved from a single piece of stone, is encircled by a garland of half-open roses intertwined with delicately sculpted leaves...a motif both timeless and symbolically rich.
The creamy alabaster glows warmly when illuminated, its subtle veining and natural inclusions enhancing its organic beauty. The level of craftsmanship is exceptional: the floral wreath is deeply carved in high relief, creating depth, shadow, and an almost tactile sense of movement.
The use of half-open roses, rather than buds or full blooms, is a poignant artistic choice. Caught in a moment of emergence, they symbolize elegance in transition...beauty revealed in quiet stages. Nestled between finely rendered leaves, the roses form a rhythmic, circular band that mirrors the form of the lamp itself.
This sculpted garland not only enhances the visual richness of the piece but also amplifies the ambient effect of the light. When lit from within, the floral relief seems to awaken: the roses appear to breathe with warmth, while the carved leaves cast gentle shadows across the alabaster’s surface.
The motif evokes classical and neoclassical themes of continuity, reverence, and natural grace...a subtle but evocative nod to the grand traditions of architectural ornamentation.
Perfect as a sculptural focal point in an entryway, suspended above a dining table, or floating in a high-ceilinged salon. Its understated drama and tactile poetry make it an ideal addition to classical, Art Deco, Wabi-Sabi, or minimalist interiors seeking a singular accent with soul.
Alabaster pendant lamps of this scale and sculptural detail are exceedingly rare. The presence of full floral relief around the bowl...especially in such harmonious proportions...elevates this piece into the realm of collector-grade lighting. Museum-quality, and heirloom-worthy.
