About the Item

TYPE 6435, large pine cone shaped brass pendant from the 1960s by Svend Aage Holm Sorensen. Collectors item, rare internationally sought after piece! A large pendant with a width of 17.3" (44 cm) and a height of 13.8" (35 cm), comprised of five tiers of flake shape serrated brass plates - acid treated and flame cut in Holm Sorensen's special process (this is his signature), bringing out a wondrous specter of colors. Shapes and acid-treatment come together to create the illusion of a suspended lighting pine cone, and as the bulb mount is placed in the center of the lamp, the lights emits through the flakes, creating a softly diffused illumination. As the warm ambient luminance is projected onto the surroundings, it is ever so gently interrupted by a pattern of lighter spots, escaping between the leafs. The bottom is open to allow direct light to flow downward. The pendant comes with the original brass chain to support the weight of the light and the original brass canopy, complete with label sticker. A gorgeous and sculptural 1960s pendant, perfect over a dining table providing an authentic mid-century feel in the room or over a sitting area. Perhaps in the hallway welcoming your guests - no matter where you place it, it is sure to attract positive attention and start conversations! Condition: The TYPE 6435 is a rare piece and not seen very often on the market - and this version is in very good vintage condition with very few signs of usage and age - please see photos! All original including the original wiring, brass chain and canopy (complete with label sticker), all measuring about 0.8 m (2' 7.5"). Tested and fully functional. Fitted with safety clamps for easy connection to existing wiring. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective bag. Light source: One bulb, Edison screw-fitting (E27/E26) max 75 watt.
