About the Item

Very large multi-tier chandelier by renowned Doria Leuchten, circa 1970s. Dramatic design featuring light amber coloured structured "lizard skin" glass globes of different sizes as each of the globes were handcraft produced, they don t have the same level of colours and their surface structure can differ. Best of German 1970s lighting design, Doria Leuchten received many the German award for design excellence, IF (Industrieform). Three candelabra and four standard size bulbs, newly rewired and runs on voltage from 110 till 240 volts, height is adjustable, longer cables on special request. With the 1960s came the accentuated use of glass elements and vintage Italian lights manufacturing companies like Venini and Mazzega had a strong influence on the modernization of lighting design during the 1960s. Influenced by the craze for the use of raw material, experimentation in art and culture and the revolutionary movements, lights incorporated elements of modernist design which let the material and colours speak for itself, a trend which would be soon followed by the like of Orrefors, Kalmar and Limburg. Stilnovo started the trend with so called Cascade chandelier which were very popular in Germany, Holland and Denmark where many designs were produced during the 1960s and 1970s, their modular designs allowed for illumination of small to room with very large height, they are perfect over a dining or couch table and with their sculptural dimensions fits perfectly hall or staircases. The stylish elegance of this lamp suits many environment, from Mid-Century to Hollywood Regency, from Danish modern to Space Age and contemporary interiors.
