He began his career as a freelance designer of ceramics, wallpapers, lighting, textiles, furniture. He traveled and worked in Germany and Austria, becoming familiar with the modern movements of the day including the Wiener Werkstätte, the Jugendstijl, and the Bauhaus. As a professional designer in Germany he created porcelain for the German firm KPM, as well as posters, textiles, interiors and wallpapers. Estelle and Erwine Laverne for Laverne originals - Tulip base rosewood lamp table floor lamp. Maker’s mark on underside. Extremely rare example of a piece by E & E Laverne that includes wood of any sort (rosewood) alongside the non-traditional materials for which they are most known. I cannot underscore how exceptionally rare this piece is within the Estelle and Erwine’s oeuvre. It most probably dates from the between the years 1960-1961, as the weighted tulip base is reminiscent of their Champagne chair and the central table evocative of their cafe table that was a part of the Lily collection of the late 1950’s. This incredible floor lamp with built-in side table by Tommi Parzinger for Parzinger Originals is finished in a black lacquer with Parzinger's signature brass accents. Signed 'Parzinger Originals' under the base, making this 1950s authentic designer piece ultra-collectible. The three lights comprise of a single up-light and two down-lights which can be turned on and off independently of one another or used in unison as demonstrated in the photos. A glass Stiffel branded glass cone shade sits on top of the lamp and a larger black fabric shade with golden insides is included. Can be used with or without the larger black shade.
