19th Century Gas Wall Sconces with Crystal Prisms, a Pair

About the Item

Gilt bronze sconces, originally gas but have been electrified. Original ruffled edge glass with acid etching of roses. Hanging from the shade holders are colonial cut crystal prisms. The sconce arm is made of cast bronze with a gilt finish, A curved reeded tube emerges from leaves, this leads to a square break with pinecone finials facing up and down. An ornamental neck connects this to the backplate. The rectangular backplate is an addition, to update the gas bracket for use with US electrical boxes. The original backplate ornament has been retained and sits on top of the backplate. Completely restored and rewired for use in the U.S. ready for installation. In excellent condition.
