Art Nouveau Chestnut Leaf and Green Glass Sconce, 1900s

About the Item

The essence of Art Nouveau is embodied in this exquisite gilt sconce, inspired by nature with chestnut leaves and two husks of its fruit that open to let both points of light sprout. A sculptural illumination showing an organic composition that is enriched with three curved arms that hold the original glass diffusers in a delicate gradient of green tones, whose wavy edges simulate the natural movement of the foliage. The interaction between the gilding and the translucency of the glass generates a fascinating light effect, highlighting the richness of the reliefs, the golden tones, and the mastery in its elaboration. A sublime piece of one of the most beautiful and elegant artistic movements in history.
