About the Item

BLASSET Jean & GUGGIARI André: Worked for CHANAUX & Jean Michel FRANK... Extremely rare pair of sconces coming from one of the last legal gambling club open in Paris, the " Club Anglais " ( The English Club ) This club created in 1918 by an association of American, Australian and British army pilots, did not have unfortunately the time to celebrate its 100th Anniversary it closed its business recently. We acquired  in this " Casino " all the gaming tables, Poker, Blackjack, Punto Banco (Baccarat), chairs, stools and all of these sconces. All the tables are now Sold. These sconces are made in bronze-mounted on wood covered with black leather. Some of them were covered with black vinyl and they are all sold out, except a single one... We got only two pairs in black leather and this one is the last one. The lampshades were in glass when they were in the casino but we decided to custom the lampshades to retrieve their original shape as they were designed in the 1950s, meaning in a conic shape covered with fabric. Rewired for US, candelabra sockets. Literature:   Illustrated in Mobilier et Decoration #8 November 1957. Only one pair is available. This listing is for one pair.
