Flora Series, Bronze Banana Leaf Sconces, USA

About the Item

New York-based contemporary sculptor Erin Sullivan employs the labor-intensive lost-wax process to create exquisite, realistic bronze interpretations of her organic subject matter. The work expresses ideas of time and memory, constant themes in Sullivan’s repertoire. In both the Flora series and Fauna series, Sullivan immortalizes the intricacies and delicacy within the natural world in cast bronze, a durable material capable of surviving many several millennia. The artist crafts an aesthetic equilibrium between life and death, nature and artifact, and art and design.
