French Mid-Century Brass and Black Enamel Wall Sconce with Pleated Shade, 1950s

About the Item

Petite French wall sconce from the 1950s featuring a round black enameled backplate with a brass center accent and a slender curved brass stem. The stem sweeps upward to cradle a conical cream pleated fabric shade. Fitted with a standard US candelabra socket. The shade measures 5 x 5 x 7 inches. French Mid-Century lighting of this period frequently paired black enamel with warm brass hardware, a combination widely produced by smaller Parisian ateliers and lighting workshops throughout the late 1940s and 1950s. The pleated conical shade format was a recurring motif in French modernist lighting during this era, seen across a range of manufacturers both attributed and unattributed. Shows wear consistent with age and use.
