Ignazio Gardella LP5 Wall Lamp / Milanese Design of the 1950s Mid-Century Modern
About the Item
This item is raw and sturdy. Its rugged textures and bold lines define that radical character. Its presence is uncompromising and captivating.
This wall light by Ignazio Gardella was designed in 1954 and produced by Azucena. Current production was designed and manufactured in Italy. It is done in glass, brass and painted metal. Here the metal is rich in surface and reveals a wonderful patina. To keep the value of the item and its authenticity, the finish wasn’t overpainted, while the character of the surface was preserved in its original condition. Its surface is slightly waxed with beeswax, which protects it while presenting a natural, subtle gloss. The Industrial glass was used to illuminate the old trams in Milan. These wall lights are a timeless piece that embodies the Milanese design cleverness of the 1950s. The prismatic diffuser is supported by a brass structure. This allows the distribution of light rays to the room. The light creates a soft and domestic atmosphere.
I think this piece blends well with many interior styles. It is an interesting detail due to its industrial character.
