About the Item
A Marvelous Pair of Gilt Bronze and Multi-Colored Champleve Enamel Three-Arm Wall Appliques/Sconces, Attributed to Barbedienne. This fantastic pair of sconces are each cast, hand-chased, and hand-chiseled with fantastic quality and craftsmanship. They are further enameled with a multitude of colors including turquoise blue, dark blue, red, green, yellow, and white. Creating this multi-colored enamel effect on gilt bronze is very difficult to master and the attribution to Barbedienne is given to these for this reason. The thick-bodied arms and robust rounded tops with extended ormolu finials give these sconces a Moorish/Islamic essence that is perfect for any defined and Middle Eastern inspired setting.
