About

Pair of Gino Sarfatti model 237/1 wall lamps in black. Designed in 1959, this is an authorized 2018 Astep/Flos re-edition by Alessandro Sarfatti, grandson of Gino Sarfatti, who applies his grandfather's scrupulous attention to detail and materials to offer a tightly curated selection of iconic lighting originally produced by Arteluce. Executed in a single opaline glass sphere held in place by a sculptural black painted metal structure with black cord, in-line on/off switch and period styled US wall plug. Unused in original factory packaging. Price is per pair. Also available in a champagne finish as well as in larger version and multi-globe configurations. In-stock lead time 3-4 weeks. Out of stock up to 10 weeks or more. Inventory availability subject to change. For time sensitive orders, please inquire prior to purchasing. Please note that these are unused new in box with professionally modified European wiring for US compatibility, but not under factory warranty. Professionally modified for US electrical with new candelabra sockets, in-line on/off switch and period styled wall plug. Not UL listed, but recommended UL listing available from authorized 3rd party vendor upon request for an additional fee. Throughout his life, the sky served as a muse for lighting master Gino Sarfatti. He was fascinated by the perfect light emitted by the Moon, and one of Gino Sarfatti’s most brilliant designs is inspired by the natural poetry of the luminous satellite. In 1959, Le Sfere was launched in a solar system of its own, revolving around a single luminous sphere. Le Sfere features a simple, yet elegant principle in which a blown opaline glass sphere is held in place by a painted aluminum ring. A refined embrace that lends the luminaire a graphic expression and brings forth its distinctive aesthetic. The Le Sfere collection is a multifaceted, open-minded luminaire system, suitable for illuminating all kinds of spaces with its ambient moonlight, from a modest corridor to exclusive private and commercial settings. The collection was gradually expanded to fit larger commissioned projects. Among them is the famous Teatro Regio in Turin, Italy, where Le Sfere can still be seen in a variety of compositions, including cascades and columns, that emphasize the genius and beauty of the system. The Le Sfere collection is the largest product family by Gino Sarfatti with models that have developed over time, from the first single sphere, Model 237, to the iconic twenty-four-sphere chandelier. All created from the same fundamental principle: a beautiful interpretation of the perfect luminous sphere.
