  • Pair of Italian Baroque Hand-Carved Giltwood Sconces with Gilt Bronze Arm

    A very beautiful pair of antique 17th century baroque period hand-carved giltwood Italian sconces made with gold leaves technique. The corner base is finely carved as acanthus leaves with a pine as final up and down. In the middle of each sconce there is a plain gilt wood band that covers a metal band with holes in which one can put the sconce’s arm. We have just one antique and original arm per sconce but on request we can realize more arms to put on. Each ormolu socket has a very sinuous and curvy shape emphasized by a curl on both sides and embellished by a richly stylized gilt wood leaf pattern. A fully decorative scrolled floral work gilt wood bobeches. Newly wired.     This stylish Italian Mid Century Modern pair of wall sconces or ceiling lights is an attractive light fixture set made of curved shaped frosted glass panels inserted in a polished brass frame mounted on a chrome panel, each sconce houses two light bulbs. The design of this wonderful lamps boasts a transparent cut glass plate positioned in the center of each sconce, the prism shaped faceted glasses allow to radiate the light in different directions for an elegant and relaxing glow, a nod to the Art Deco and Hollywood Regency period. The delicate curved shape and materials recall the artworks of the famous Italian designer Luigi Caccia Dominioni, one of the Azucena brand founder.     This pair of elegant 19th century Italian Empire period (1811-1817) silver chiseled candlesticks show a simple but elegant design and shape. The conical structure embellished with festoon and garlands rests on an unfilled round base decorated with acanthus leaves offset olive-shaped grommets adorned with a frieze of palmettes and a flat, plate-shaped drip edge. Smooth design of the surface divided by delicate leaf and cord friezes. These candleholders were crafted between 1811 and 1817 in Rome during the occupation of city by the French Empire.
