About the Item
An impressive large scale pair of mid 19th century French Louis XIV st. ormolu five arm sconces. The richly chased pair with all original gilt has a back plate decorated by large acanthus leaves, and a central female figure with her hair braided above draped floral garlands. Above her head are five extended and imposing 'S' scrolled arms with a hammered design amidst acanthus leaves and floral rosettes. Two of the arms are with rams head below richly chased candle cups and saucers.
