About the Item

A Mid-Century Modern vintage table lamp or desk lamp by Italian designer Oscar Torlasco for the prestigious Italian lighting manufacturer Lumi. This tall rare statement piece is composed of a shade in elegant red and a structure of both lacquered steel and brass on the bottom featuring a well-balanced combination of colors and materials. The oval form of the shade and the round base add an aesthetic sense of symmetry to this table lamp. Italy, circa 1954. About the designer Oscar Torlasco is a notable Italian midcentury designer with a special interest in lighting, which included wall lights, floor lamps and chandeliers. He often experimented with Industrial chrome steel, then combined it with more luxurious materials such as marble, crystal and brass. His versatile creations ranged from the Industrial and Space Age to Italian Art Deco. In 1959, he received a Compasso d`Oro for his Genova 4053 (1959) lamp post. We are an exhibition space and an online destination established by the passionate art director behind Jonathan Amar Studio. Our gallery presents a harmonious mix of iconic and engaging 20th century pieces and bespoke contemporary lighting. With a strong focus on Italian midcentury designs, his success strives from sourcing designs with striking shapes, creative techniques and interesting materials that cross the concept of time in the same way a Spirit does. All our pieces are expertly restored at our atelier and we only offer items that will last another lifetime. Our 350 square meter workspace includes a luminous gallery, a restoration atelier where our expert artisans in metalwork, woodwork, upholstery and electrics ; restore each piece with the Mission to honour a balance between restoration and preservation. There may be light age-related wear but no hard damages or structural issues. Since the launch of our gallery in late 2017, we have exported over 280 items to buyers in 21 countries located in all four corners of the world from Europe and North America to Asia and Australia. In the United-States alone, we have ensured the delivery of over 150 pieces of all sizes (from massive dining tables to small decorative objects) in 23 states. We take the utmost attention to our packaging by building robust made to to measure boxes in our atelier in the aim of providing safe and cost effective delivery prices for every client. Most deliveries arrive smoothly in less than 8 days.
