Beautiful 20th century Art Deco Period Bronze "Hunting Dogs" by Clovis Masson (1838 – 1913, France),circa 1930, France This Signed Sculpture by the French Artist Clovis Edmond Masson (1838-1913), is a spirited depiction of two hunting Dogs. The 'Hunting Dogs' is in moulded Bronze and depicts a Pointer and an Irish Setter set on a rectangular Marble Base. Extraordinary details of the dog's expression and coats showcase the high quality of this bronze. The bronze and marble present in very fine condition with superb patination. Very Heavy. No damage. Masson was a pupil of the famous French animal bronzier, Antoine-Louis Barye. He exhibited in the Paris Salon (Salon des Beaux Arts) in 1867 – 1881. More than 50 pieces of sculpture were exhibited by Masson thru 1909. Examples of his sculptures can be found in the Municipal Museum in Nimes. In early 1907, King Chulalongkorn of Thailand, known as Rama V, decided to erect a monument to his glory on a vast empty esplanade on which the parliament would soon stand (not to be completed until 1915). Rama V sailed for Europe in 1907. Chulalongkorn had the idea early on to erect an equestrian statue. His visit to the Palace of Versailles in the spring of 1907 finally convinced him. Like that of Louis XIV, whose statue is in the main courtyard of the castle, Rama V would also leave his mark in Bangkok with his equestrian statue. Outstanding and really gorgous mirror made by a French master craftsman, following the extraordinary mirrors Louis XIV (1643 – 1715). Made of finely carved , gilded and silver wood with an aged effect. Body with a quadrangular profile and an exuberant forelock at the top. These two parts present the typical elements of Louis XIV mirrors. The main body presents a double corridor, the interior with smaller mirrors. In addition, ornaments in the corners and half of each side that enhance its shape. In the upper part, a large crest develops, which presents in its central area the cup of abundance, framed by a multitude of rockeries that create a kind of ephemeral architecture. One of a kind Set of two pieces belonging to a monumental Baroque altarpiece made in the 18th century. These are two magnificent carvings of large dimensions, which together make a semicircular piece with a profuse decoration also of monumental proportions of plant forms. Decoration with elaborate carved rolls, which stand out from the general structure. It comes from a Spanish church that housed an imposing altarpiece made in the second half of the 18th century. The entire visible surface is gilded with original gold leaf, with imperceptible subsequent touch-ups. The back is reinforced, which makes the pieces very strong and heavy. A very fine pair of French 19th-20th century neoclassical style patinated cast iron figural torchères by A. Durenne, Paris, each representing a figure of a standing young maiden, her arms raised forward while holding a a flaming urn gas light (Now electrified) with a frosted glass flame, each raised on a veined grey marble column stand, both cast-signed 'A. Durenne, Paris'. Antoine Durenne was an internationally renowned French art founder. He attended École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 1842. Durenne purchased a small foundry in Sommevoire, near the Val d'Osne, Haute-Marne, France and established The Durenne firm, circa Paris, 1900. Cast-iron had been in production during the 18th century but its inferior status to the more fashionable and delicate wrought iron had generally confined its use to architectural work. By the early 19th century, however, rapid developments of the Industrial Revolution combined with the simultaneous burgeoning of a new middle class provided the impetus for a dramatic Expansion in its application and in a short space of time a proliferation of iron foundries across Europe and America thrived on the production of everything from inkstands to railway stations. The use of cast-iron for garden ornament became particularly widespread at this time, as the possibilities for its mass-production at a fraction of the cost of bronze made it the material of choice for outdoor statuary...

A beautifully cast pair of French 19th century neoclassical patinated figural bronze nine arm candelabra after a model by Jaen Jacques Pradier They are signed J. Pradier and were converted into lamps in the 20th century. Each candelabra is cast as classically draped maiden with one representing Phyrne and the other unknown, standing on a circular stepped dark green marble socle base. There are no visible foundry marks on the bronzes. Born in Geneva in 1792 in Switzerland, Pradier was the son of a Protestant family from Toulouse. He left for Paris in 1807 to work with his elder brother, Charles-Simon Pradier, an engraver, and also attended the École des Beaux-Arts beginning in 1808. He won a Prix de Rome that enabled him to study in Rome from 1814-1818 at the Villa Médici. Pradier made his debut at the Salon in 1819 and quickly acquired a reputation as a competent artist. He studied under Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres in Paris. In 1827 he became a member of the Académie des beaux-arts and a professor at the École des Beaux-Arts.
