A striking French 19th century neo-classical st. silvered bronze and ormolu lamp. The lamp is raised by a square base with a fine wrap around foliate band and a charming and richly chased pierced ormolu mount at the front of a violin and lyre amidst flowers. The urn shaped silvered bronze body displays a finely detailed wrap around berried laurel band at the base and an elegant socle pedestal. Encasing the body are beautiful ormolu mounts of beautiful large richly chased acanthus leaves, a graceful lyre, a trumpet, a quill and the eternal flame. Striking and large scale scrolled cornucopias extend up each side and lead up to the top cap. At the rim is a lovely beaded band with an outer egg and dart design.
