Bronze Oil Lamp, 19th Century

About the Item

Bronze candle. XIX century. The circular foot is raised by the edges to catch any oil that may fall. A solomonic foot ends in a vase shape, to give way to the central knot of the candle, in which each of the lights arises from a schematized quadruped. The upper finial, above another simple vase shape, features a flat plate of scrolls and fleurde-lis and a tubular rod finished in a decoration with two shapes reminiscent of rampant animals and another figure at the top. These types of lamps made in the 19th century are inspired by other older works, following the custom of the time to take the styles of the past as examples to follow. Size: 26 x 26 x 89 cms. Weight is merely orientative.
