Art Deco Wooden Table Lamp by Charles Dudouyt , France, circa 1930s

About the Item

Charles Dudouyt Wooden Table Lamp, France, circa 1930s A wooden table lamp by Charles Dudouyt, designed and produced in France during the 1930s. Turned from solid wood, the lamp features a central column carved with a succession of faceted diamond-shaped elements rising from a circular base with concentric rings turning. The original, fully functional electrical system has been preserved, and the lamp is offered with a contemporary cream cotton-linen tubular shade. As the lamp retains its original antique French B22 bayonet bulb fittings, it comes complete with two compatible 22 mm bayonet bulbs. Replacements are readily available online. Charles Dudouyt occupies a singular position in twentieth-century French decorative arts. While his contemporaries embraced the sophistication and luxury materials associated with Art Deco, Dudouyt drew inspiration from traditional French vernacular furniture, transforming rural forms and woodworking techniques into a highly personal and instantly recognizable design language. Through bold turning, geometric carving, and solid timber construction, he created furniture and lighting that bridged regional craftsmanship and modern design, securing his place among the most distinctive French designers of the period. Overall dimensions: 55 cm high × 16 cm diameter (21.65 × 6.30 in.). Wooden lamp: 26 cm high (10.24 in.). Base diameter: 12 cm (4.72 in.). Shade: 35 cm high × 16 cm diameter (13.78 × 6.30 in.).
