Gerald Thurston Tripod Table Lamp for Lightolier, Brass & Walnut

About the Item

Elegant and sculptural, this rare tripod table lamp by Gerald Thurston for Lightolier embodies the refined sophistication of the best 1950s–60s American modern design. Its patinated brass tripod form is accented with tapered black enameled walnut legs terminating in brass ball caps and its central stem rising gracefully from a distinctive spherical hub, giving this lamp an architectural and subtly atomic-age stance. Thurston’s designs for Lightolier remain among the most sought-after examples of Mid-Century American lighting, prized for their combination of thoughtful artistry and ultimate functionality. This example displays the designer’s signature interplay of delicate lines, organic tapering forms and luxurious material contrast. The lamp has been newly fitted with a large custom drum shade that complements the dramatic proportions of the base, enhancing the clean modernist aesthetic. An exceptional statement piece equally suited for sophisticated residential interiors, designer showrooms or smartly curated office environments. Dimensions: Lamp: 8.25" W x 8.25" D x 29.25" H Shade: 18.5" D x 7" H Please note the harp for this shade height requires use of an A15 light bulb, readily available in stores and online, rather than an A19 bulb. (An 15 bulb is the size commonly used in refrigerators and other appliances in the US, and an A19 is a standard table lamp size.).
