About the Item
A Henry Moore Inspired, pine, figurative, sculpture upcycled into a 17” high, table lamp
- Unusual statement and conversation piece; injecting modernism and organic form and texture into an interior
- The human form is the principal subject of sculpture due to its emotional importance as an object of desire, love, fear, respect, and, in the case of anthropomorphic gods, worship; and, second, to its inexhaustible subtlety and variety of form and expression.
- By the end of his career, Moore was the world's most successful living artist at auction. The human form either pierced or containing hollow spaces was his central theme which became more abstracted over time.
- Moore would pick up interesting stones, shells and sticks when he went for walks in the countryside. He took these back to his studio and used their shapes and textures as well as bones and landscape forms to inspire the shapes and textures of his sculptures giving them an organic quality.
- This sculpture is inspired by Moore’s fully abstracted work and the form shifts with the viewing angle, height and perspective.
- Juxtaposes and blends with period interiors; harmonises with modern and contemporary schemes.
- The soft rich, lustrous patina is warm and harmonises with most colour schemes.
- The conversion is recent so it conforms to UK Electrical standards.
