About the Item
Ado or Adolphe Chale was born in Bruxelles Belgium in 1928. He was fascinated by minerals after a trip to Germany and opened a shop selling minerals in 1961 in Bruxelles. Fascinated by the possibilities of their usage he started to design tables and lighting using these minerals, making rare and beautiful artistic creations.His furniture was for the most part designed using ebonised wood or metal mounts also in aluminium,and polyester resin inserting mosaics of minerals, including laps lazuli, agate chalcedony, cornaline, eye of tiger,or fossilized wood.He made consoles, seating, lighting and tables which were actually sculptures, out of bronze and aluminium. These beautiful pieces are now highly collectable and fetch high prices.
