Pair of Antique Japanese Bronze Urns, Now Mounted as Lamps

About the Item

This handsome pair of lamps are at once highly ornamental and useful. An oversized pair of Japanese bronze vases of tall bottle form, each with a bulbous lower section embellished with birds amidst gnarled branches, leaves and buds raised in high relief and chased with details, the tapering cylindrical necks are applied with a large four toed and bewhiskered dragon sensuously writhing around the long neck above holding a flaming pearl. These ornamental flourishes are in relief which add a dynamic liveliness, the whole with a chocolate brown patination with scattered gilt highlights. The ivory parchment shades of tapering conical section complete the stylish look.
