Chinoiserie is a decorative style that we see in Western art, furniture and architecture.
It is the Eoropean interpretation and imitation of Chinese and other East Asian artistic traditions.
Chinoiserie entered European art and decoration in the mid-to-late 17th century but it peaked around the middle of the 18th century.
Chinoiserie was associated with the rococo style and with works by Thomas Chippendale.
The style is characterized by the use of Chinese motifs and techniques.
