Pair of French 19th Century Louis XV St. Ormolu and Bronze Candelabra Lamps
About the Item
A charming and very high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. ormolu and patinated bronze candelabra lamps. Each seven arm lamp is raised by a beautiful base with striking pierced scrolled foliate movements and a stunning array of most decorative reeded, beaded, and fluted designs amidst charming richly chased blooming flowers. At the center of each lamp is a charming and finely detailed patinated bronze cherub sitting down draped in a wonderfully executed flowing garment. One cherub is holding a goat in his lap while the other is holding a bird. Beautiful richly chased foliate garlands lead upwards to the impressive and most decorative fancifully scrolled arms, each adorned with luxuriant acanthus leaves and leading to stunning floral candle cups in a superb satin and burnished finish. All original gilt throughout.
