Pair of gilt bronze table candelabra by Ferdinand Barbedienne
French, late 19th century
Measures: Height 97cm, width 46cm, depth 35cm
These large and finely cast candelabra were made by the well respected bronzier Ferdinand Barbedienne and are a truly exceptional example of 19th century French craftsmanship. They are decorated in the neoclassical style and each with nine-light branches. The vase-form bodies with twin scrolling handles and centred by a grotesque mask, surmounted by the upward facing light branches. The square shaped base with four paw feet. Each signed to the base 'F. Barbedienne'.
