About the Item
Brown cone shaped rustic earthenware table lamp by Swedish ceramicist and artist Elsi Bourelius, ca 1960. Swedish Modern lamp with decorative retro pattern and tactile rough surface. Made in her own studio.
Height: 33.5 cm (including socket)
Shade: White linnen, diameter 35 cm.
Condition: In great vintage condition.
Wiring: Rewired by professional. White textile cord and brass plated fittings. EU-plug.
Elsi Bourelius (1909-2001) was a Swedish ceramist and water-colourist. She studied at Konstfack in Stockholm 1929–34. After receiving Svenska Slöjdföreningen's scholarship, Bourelius continued her studies at Handwerkerschule der Stadt Berlin 1936–1937 followed by travels to Denmark and the Netherlands. Later she apprenticed at Steninge Keramik and Gabrielverken before setting up her own studio. In 1965, she began working at Jie, Gentofta.
