Tubino Table lamp by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos, 1970s

About the Item

This table lamp, named Tubino, was designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni already in 1949 (!). Initially, the lamp was produced by Arredoluce, from the 1970s it was taken into production by Flos. The lamp is specifically designed for a neon light source (Flos edition: 8 watt tubular fluorescent lamp). The lamp consists of an elegantly curved metal base that ends in the holder for the neon tube. The light from this tube can be directed by a rotating aluminium reflector. The Tubino lamp can also be attached to the wall. Literature: 'Castiglioni - Tutte le opere' by Sergio Polano, Electa, Milano, 2001 (page 47).

  • Gecko Table Lamp by Gianfranco Frattini for Leuka, 1970s
    By Gianfranco Frattini, Leuka

Gecko table lamp by Italian designer Gianfranco Frattini for Leuka in 1971. Giuliana Gramigna described on Page 208 (1972) of 'Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950-2000' (translated from Italian): "Table lamp with adjustable angle reflector, connected with the base by a magnet." This surprising structure ensures that the lamp can be directed in all directions. The lamp is in good vintage condition. The electrical wiring is from the 70s and is still attached to the base of the lamp using the original rubber connection piece. Some loss of chrome on the top of the lamp can be noticed, the inside of the reflector is discolored. Gianfranco Frattini is also known because of the luminous snakelike fixture named Boalum which he designed together with Livio Castiglioni for Artemide and the impressive table lamp with fringes...
