Karl M. Lundberg founded Nordiska Kompaniet in 1902, laying the foundation for what would become the first and ultimately most important entry into the world of luxury in Scandinavia.
In 1915, Nordiska Kompaniet established itself as Stockholm's first department store: modern and multi-story, centrally located, offering a wide range of Nordic-inspired services and merchandise capable of appealing to the region's most elite clientele.
Nordiska Kompaniet Hamngatan offered customers its own line of custom furniture made in workshops in Nyköping (1904). The design aesthetic reflects the company's overall philosophy: high quality production, with touches of refined elegance and, above all, an air of exclusivity.
