About the Item
A Spanish gilt metal sunburst mirror with convex glass from the mid-20th century. This 1940s Spanish round mirror features an unusual frame made of gilt metal leaves beautifully darkened at their extremities. Each leaf gently curves forward, creating an even stronger effect of light and shadow. Set inside this exquisite frame a convex mirror, not original to the piece, distorts the image it reflects. While this is not the kind of mirror to shave by or put makeup on with, it opens up the space and creates an interesting reflection of the surrounding world. Placed anywhere in a home, it will be a great decorative accent.
