1940's Art Nouveau Meets Art Deco Hall Tree, Mirror With Coat Hooks and Shelf
About the Item
Say hello to the most stylish way to check your look before heading out the door! This seriously fabulous vintage Art Nouveau hall tree mirror is giving us all the old-school glamour vibes. Standing tall at 73" and a whopping 55" wide, this isn’t just a mirror—it’s an entire moment. From the mid 1940s to early 1950s France (with a sweet little “Made in France” tag to prove it), this beauty is packed with vintage charm.
Front and center is a huge, singular mirror panel, flanked by three vertical mirror panels on each side, all attached to a thick wooden panel with sleek brass round stand-off fittings. And because we love a good multi-functional piece, the middle mirror has a slot for a glass shelf that inserts from behind, extending out a chic 12 inches and bowing on the sides—perfect for holding your keys, compact, or maybe a cute little dish for your lipstick. It’s all about functionality and flair!
But let's talk about those hooks! Up top, there are four large coat hooks that are both functional and total works of art. Each hook is approximately a 3" concave brass disc with a stunning greenish speckled patina, like they’ve been aging gracefully. And, of course, there’s that swooping brass Art Nouveau halo design above each disc, dropping down into elegant cursive "L" hooks. It’s basically like your coats get their own little piece of art to hang on.
Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty: this mirror is OLD, and it wears its age like a badge of honor. The wooden frame is solid and a testament to its history. The bottom features a black glass panel, which has seen some drama—it’s been broken and glued back together, but we like to think of it as a quirky little flaw that adds character. Of course, we can have it restored upon request, but we kinda love its perfectly imperfect charm. There are also some scratches on the mirror and a bit of wear on the glass shelf insert (don’t worry—no chips or cracks on the shelf itself), all of which are totally consistent with its age.
All in all, this French Art Nouveau meets Art Deco mid century modern mirror is ready to bring a whole lot of vintage flair and functional fabulousness to your entryway or hallway. Whether you’re hanging coats or just admiring your reflection, this piece is here to steal the show.
It’s a little vintage, a little glam, and just the right amount of practical. What more could you ask for?
